| The
10-Second Biz Bite
Topic: Persistence
Watch for next month’s 10-Second Biz Bite on the topic ‘Common
Sense’
‘We can do anything we want as long as we stick to it long
enough’ and ‘What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger’ are samples
of mantras that we chanted in the business wisdom of the past.
The NEW MANTRA is now ‘Work Smarter Not Harder’.
An attitude of Unlimited Persistence on all tasks particularly
for the small business owner leads us to burning the midnight
oil - ‘Paying Our Dues’. However Persistence is one of those
values in business that has changed in the new millennium. The
new popular business wisdom is not unlimited persistence beyond
our skill and our bodies ability to put out - it is now ‘Work
Smarter Not Harder’.
So the next time you find yourself crunching numbers and trying
to make sense of the financial side of your business - remember
their are bookkeepers and accountants who can and should be
handling this for you.
The next time you receive or worse yet give out a homemade
business card or brochure remember there are talented graphic
artists that are ready to design them for you.
Perhaps you are an amateur techie trying to make sense of your
computer or website. Keep track of the hours you waste sitting
there trying to figure it out and remember the long lineup of
IT people just hoping to help you.
Can’t afford these people? Would rather do it yourself? Then
admit this is a paying hobby and not serious business. Serious
business has only one mantra today and that is working smarter
not harder - to produce growth. In the new millennium we can
no longer justify holding our businesses back behind the good
old fashioned cloak of Persistence. Work Smarter - Not Harder.
I look forward to your thoughts and comments!
