I enjoy the
challenges of small business. I feel the most at home networking
among fellow entrepreneurs and particularly enjoy facilitating
strategic alliances. ‘My Business Coach’ always seems to be on
simmer! I have been described as ‘a master teacher’ and an
excellent speaker. I live and promote a balanced and holistic
approach to starting and growing a business.
I have been
told many times that I am inspiring. You too will come away from
our work with an increased sense of self esteem and with more
courage to dare and to dream.
My Business Resume
As
well as a teaching career of 18 years, I have over eleven years
experience with self-employment. In my first business, I was the
owner/operator of a salon/diet center (2 sub franchises) and in my
second business I was the managing partner of a company that
traveled to 60 cities a year giving workshops to teachers. I have
written 2 startup business plans, an expansion business plan, a
Canada Arts Council proposal, negotiated four commercial leases,
managed a staff of up to 10, set up six offices (four were home
offices), and managed an average annual operating budget of 225k.
I was most
recently the facilitator in an Introduction to Business class. I
developed a particular strength and interest in the importance of
research to business planning.
I feel I have
an extensive portfolio of strategies and information sources that
can benefit business planners. Clients work with me on new idea
viability, personal branding, business planning, developing a
niche specialty, marketing strategies, and balancing
self-employment with a full personal life.
